Contract Award for Voice Communication System to Asia Pacific Nation

14-Jun-2016 Harris Critical Networks C4i business in Australia was awarded a $4.5 million dollar contract to upgrade more than twenty geographical Air-to-Ground Voice Communication Control Sites (VCCS), using Harris’ SwitchplusIP product and VHF/UHF radios.  The contract represents nearly 45% of the country wide VCCS environment.
Harris’ military off-the-shelf solution packages the communication components within a tough custom-built transit rack system. This includes switching equipment, radios and operator position hardware for a holistic deployable solution.
The compact high availability IP core provides the Air Force operators with integrated access to a wide array of functionality and interfaces including: multiport radio over IP gateway, dual channel cellular gateway, WAN and LAN interfaces, analog ports and support for multiple operator positions.  Increased efficiency is delivered via a single display, providing seamless access to previously non-integrated stove-piped systems.
Flexibility of the Air Force operations is ensured with each site able to operate standalone, or integrated into the country-wide network installation.  The SwitchplusIP system is currently deployed with multiple Air Defence customers around the world.
The award is one of the growing number of awards and successful ruggedized VCCS projects which Harris has delivered to Asia Pacific Air Forces in recent years" said Peter Harrison, managing director of Harris owned Exelis C4i Pty Ltd. "We’ve been seeing strong demand for these products from many Defense Forces, as their need for networked, portable and reliable voice communication solutions continues to grow."
